gina and juliana flew in for their homecoming this past weekend & came to the spa to get ready.  it's amazing how just a few months gone has changed these gurlies!  nane came for a visit and we all giggled and helped them get ready.  .......and they looked beautiful!  and now they're back in texas... luv u & miss you terribly...

word of the week...what do YOU think?

been working on this one and the more i think about it the less i think about it...
EXPECTATION(s)
books encourage us not to give it place in relationships so as to not be disappointed...
my sister's marriage blog implies that expectations can imprison a spouse...
in a conversation with a friend the other day it was said that i (yes ME) expect too much..
i've read that expectations are common relationship 'happiness-busters'...
EXPECTATION(s)
even my horoscope this week read:
"although your expectations are founded upon realistic factors, experience should have taught you that life seldom offers a sure thing.
don't be disappointed if you don't get all that you hoped for".
EXPECTATION(s)
well i disagree & feel quite the opposite regarding expectations:
how can a relationship with one's mother, sister, lover, co-worker, neighbor or friend survive without
EXPECTATION(s)?
we expect those we deal with to be courteous & honest / our children to listen to our advice / to get paid for our efforts @ work / our friends to support our decisions....and on and on.
could it be that the problem lay not with the presence of expectations, but with the absence of communicating them before, during and post-mortem an infraction?
therefore, in lieu of trying endlessly to rid myself of having expectations,
i have chosen to check and refine my thoughts, feelings and actions
WHEN expectations are not met...
let me know what  you think...
and don't expect me to agree!  ;-)

summer 2008

driving down the street today i noticed two stunning maple trees already dressed in their autumn colors...
time to put the flip flops & shorts away, pull & replace the spent annuals with mums and pumpkins, and (yikes) think about Christmas!!! it's been a wonderful, albeit swift summer. i'll now blog the thoughts that cross my mind every year at this time:
summer, wonderful summer, came & went but not without carving some super memories...summer 2008-- not complete without DMB concert-- this year was another doozie! thanks girls (and dean), can't wait till '09!  harley rides--man it was waaayyy too long since the last time i was on a bike.  was great fun being 'frankie's girl' (thanks cindy gurlfren' for sharing & teaching me where to hold on)!  watching shalene train her way to
chi town-- man this girl can do anything she puts her mind to and has reminded me time and again what it means to press on--shay baby NOBODY is going to need to scrape you off of anything but the sky cuz you'll b flyin high!! maroon 5 with shalene and angie was such a blast--watch out adam we're coming back and next time we won't go home without you!!  did a lil golfing with jeanette--name a sport ANY sport and this kid can do it!
oh! the weddings:
dee&nate, lisa&matthew, amber&jesse &
angela & dan-
one great time after another celebrating
love
with family and friends!
so now as my uggs & sweaters make it to the forefront of my closet, i say farewell to summer and a great big
thank you
to everyone who helped make summer 2008 so memorable!

cure fo' what ails ya...

my own personal stylist...as you can imagine--it is no easy task to have me as a client!!  kali with her sweet personality and enormous talent handles me and my hair witha smile!!!  we have fun every time (well at least she makes it seem like she's having fun)!  just look at the concentration on her face!!!kinda hard to hold the camera with one hand and take pics. added bonus: she keeps me looking great (@ least my hair)... now if only she could do something about my abs...LOL

all i can say is....wow!

homecoming 2008
...angie's a senior and tell me if i'm incorrect but i don't remember ANY of the girls in 12th grade looking like this....
amy did a fabulous job on ang's hair--man gurl you ROCK!
my beautiful angie, so full of life and so happy.  she enjoys every moment and doesn't sweat the small stuff (just like her mother LOL). her date, victor was a real trooper-- he tore his ACL last week and barely showed his discomfort that was surely there!

so you remember how your mother (and dr laura) always left you with the infamous phrase 'do the right thing".?  somehow those words ring in my head (tnx mom) and i could not ignore them last night. okay so i socked a few bucks away and planned on blowing it on a canon sd camera... and while at sam's club to check the selection i wandered to the food section (which is inevitable) and before i knew it i had $300 of groceries in my basket and NO CAMERA!  i must admit that it crossed my mind to abandon the overflowing cart and bee-line it to    best buy....but the echo was loud and the thought of jeanette's face when she opened the snack cupboard alone was enough to guide me to the checkout line.
oh well:
easy come easy go...i had great fun washing fruit, cutting watermelon, arranging fruit bars and crushing boxes!
...and boy were the girls happy!

well, well, look who's joined the party!!!
